Pregnancy sleep gear splits into two schools: the giant U-shaped pillows that support everything and occupy a partner's worth of mattress, and targeted supports that do less but coexist with another human. Babybub sits deliberately in the second school, supporting the bump from below and the lower back simultaneously while leaving the rest of the bed to its existing residents.

In nightly use through a third trimester, our tester's summary was 'it stays where I put it' — which is the entire assignment. Side-to-side turns, the eight nightly bathroom trips, the 3 a.m. repositioning ritual: the pillow held position instead of migrating to the floor, and morning-after back complaints dropped noticeably within the first week.

The compromises are the category's, not uniquely babybub's. Any foam-and-fabric wedge against your body adds heat, and warm sleepers will notice; there's an adjustment window of a few nights while your body renegotiates its sleeping architecture; and unlike a nursing-convertible pillow, the post-pregnancy second act is limited.

At this price, against full-body pillows costing more and annexing more bed, it's a sensible, well-executed pick for anyone whose main complaints are bump strain and lower back — and whose partner would like to remain in the bed. The washable cover is less a bonus than a requirement in this category, because a pillow that can't be laundered becomes a pillow that stops getting used. And if heat is your primary enemy rather than support, breathable bedding and a cooler room will do more for your nights than any pillow choice.
